Standard incandescent bulbs are a type of electric light bulb that produce light through the heating of a filament wire to a high temperature until it glows. They have been widely used for many years, but their popularity has decreased due to the development of more energy-efficient lighting technologies such as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), halogen lamps, and especially light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Incandescent bulbs work based on the principle of thermal radiation. When an electric current passes through the filament wire, it heats up due to its resistance to the flow of electricity. This high temperature causes the filament to emit light. However, a significant portion of the energy consumed by incandescent bulbs is converted into heat rather than visible light, making them relatively inefficient. In many countries, there have been initiatives to phase out incandescent bulbs or encourage their replacement with more energy-efficient alternatives. This is largely due to concerns about energy consumption and environmental impact. As a result, many manufacturers have shifted their focus to producing CFLs and LEDs, which consume significantly less energy and have much longer lifespans compared to traditional incandescent bulbs.
