A New England native, I saw this Cooper's Hawk resting on this post down at the ocean side in the middle of winter on Cape Cod. He didn't seem to be bothered by the cold at all; but was more curious as to my intentions and next move... Photo taken in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA.
A beautiful specimen of Common Kestrel (Falco Tinnunculus), a small bird of prey very present in the countryside in northern and central Italy, a protected species much loved by bird and avifauna enthusiasts. Known in Italy by the name of Falchetto or Gheppio, it is one of the most widespread birds of prey in Europe and the Scandinavian countries, but it is also very common in America, Africa and Asia. Kestrel specimens trained in falconry are used in Italy to protect cultivated fields from raids by other bird species. Image in high definition quality.

The saker falcon is a large hierofalcon, larger than the lanner falcon and almost as large as gyrfalcon at 47–55 cm (19–22 in) length with a wingspan of 105–129 cm (41–51 in). Its broad blunt wings give it a shadow similar to gyrfalcon, but its plumage is more similar to a lanner falcon's.
