Nymphaeaceae is a family of flowering plants, commonly called water lilies. They live as rhizomatous aquatic herbs in temperate and tropical climates around the world. The family contains five genera with about 70 known species.

It is an evergreen shrub with a height of 1 to 2m, but in cold regions it will drop its leaves or die in winter.\nIf left unattended, the stem will grow into a vine.\nThe leaves are alternate, 4-8 cm long, pinnately compound, and consist of 3-6 pairs of leaflets.\nThe leaflets are obovate to broadly ovate with orange margins.
