Rome, Italy, March 30 -- A solitary night view of Castel Sant'Angelo and Ponte Sant'Angelo. Built around 123 AD as a sepulcher for Emperor Hadrian and his family, the current Castel Sant'Angelo was used as a fortress, prison and refuge by the Popes due his proximity with the Vatican. Rome, Italy, September 07 -- Dozens of tourists rest in a garden in front of the National Monument of the Altare della Patria, in the historic heart of Rome. The Altare della Patria, or Vittoriano, was built in 1885 in neoclassical style in honor of the first King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II near the Roman Forum, between the north side of the Capitoline Hill (Campidoglio) and the central Piazza Venezia. Inside is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a War Memorial dedicated to all the Italian soldiers who died in the war. The Altare della Patria is the scene of all the official Italian civic celebrations, in particular the Republic Day on June 2 and the Liberation Day on April 25. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in high definition format.

Rome, Italy, February 20 -- The Cesaroni Bar, frequented by young people and tourists, is one of the most popular and famous places in the Garbatella Quarter, a sector in the Ostiense district of Rome. The Garbatella quarter was built starting from 1920 with a series of areas built for popular use and managed as small communities, with gardens, public areas for recreational use, squares and numerous green areas, with a particular architecture that often recalled the style of the ancients medieval Italian villages. According to the English newspaper The Guardian, the Ostiense district is one of the 10 coolest neighborhoods in Europe, with dozens of trendy restaurants, museums and industrial areas recovered.
