The waterfront is lined with elegant colonial buildings and colorful Caribbean style dwellings, restaurants, bar and shops.

Saint George's, Grenada: hills and colonial buildings on the west side of St. George's Inner Harbour - Situated on the hillsides surrounding a natural horseshoe-shaped harbor bay, St. George's has a colonial townscape shaped by French and British colonists. St. George's was founded in 1650 as Fort Royal by the French. During the colonial wars at the end of the 17th and 18th centuries, the settlement was plundered by Dutch pirates in 1675 and changed hands several times between France and England.

In 2004, Hurricane Ivan caused widespread damage in the Caribbean, and Grenada suffered serious economic repercussions.
