It measures 8.5 to 11 cm in length and weighs around 5 g. The dominant color is a light green, with bright tones in adequate light. Dark eyes and, behind the eye, a white spot stands out, the same tone as the belly and the tapered design of the chest, ending in the throat with a scaly appearance, delimited by the dominant green of the neck and chest. Dark wings and a rounded tail with the central feathers in a bronze-green color, the other feathers of the tail are progressively darker. Long and straight beak, with a dark maxilla and a pinkish mandible with a dark tip. Adults have dark legs and feet. The center of the chest, lower abdomen and crest are white, while the flanks are green with a bronze sheen.\n\nMale and female are very similar. Adult females have white bars on the throat. The female's plumage is slightly duller than that of the male. The young are slightly more grayish-brown in color with a white abdomen.\n\nIt has a chirping, repetitive morning song, emitted from traditional perches from dawn onwards. To identify it correctly, it is necessary to note the dull green tone of the throat and the white line on the chest, expanding onto the belly.
