Cabinda / Tchiowa, Angola: modern horned tower housing Cabinda Provincial Government headquarters - Cabinda Province, is an exclave and province of Angola. Its status has been disputed by several political organizations in the territory. The capital city, also called Cabinda, is known locally as Tchiowa, Tsiowa, or Kiowa. The province is divided into four municipalities: Belize, Buco-Zau, Cabinda, and Cacongo. Modern Cabinda emerged from the fusion of three historical kingdoms: N’Goyo, Loango, and Kakongo. Cabinda is separated from the rest of Angola by a narrow strip of territory belonging to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which bounds the province to the south and east. To the north lies the Republic of the Congo, and to the west, the Atlantic Ocean. Notably, Cabinda hosts some of the world’s largest offshore oil fields, and petroleum production significantly contributes to its economy.
