It was named in honor of Blas de Lezo, an 18th-century lieutenant general and hero of Cartagena de Indias.

Turkey - April 24, 2007: TCG İskenderun A1600 takes part in the Military Logistics activities of the Turkish Navy. This ship, which has the status of a passenger ship, took its passengers to commemorate the Gallipoli Wars and anchored in Çanakkale.\n\nThis photograph shows a naval staff member hanging the Turkish flag from the pole and paying homage to it.
