Central London, UK - Pride in London 2024: Armed Forces Join LGBTQ+ Celebration.\n\nOn Saturday, 29 June 2024, the Pride in London parade took place in central London. Members of the UK Armed Forces, including the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force, marched alongside thousands of participants from LGBTQ+ community groups and businesses.\n\nThis annual event, organized by the non-profit Pride in London, serves as a powerful symbol of inclusivity and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community. The parade showcased London's commitment to diversity and empowerment, featuring a vibrant display of colorful outfits ranging from elaborate carnival costumes to casual gym wear.\n\nThe participation of the Armed Forces alongside civilian groups highlighted the growing acceptance and support for LGBTQ+ rights across various sectors of British society. One crew member is raising two maritime flags, while the other watches or assists, on the bridge of USS Canberra (LCS 30), an Independence Class combat ship of the US Navy which is docked at Garden Island in Sydney Harbour.  She was in port for her commissioning ceremony on 22 July 2023.  As part of the ceremony, her captain was presented with a kangaroo insignia attached to all ships of the Royal Australian Navy, but decorated in the colours and design of the Stars and Stripes.  That insignia has been attached to the ship and visible on the right.  The name of the ship and serial number is visible on the orange life ring.  A large, padded chair is visible on the bridge.
