The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), also known as the green turtle, black (sea) turtle, or Pacific green turtle,is a large sea turtle of the family Cheloniidae. It is the only species in the genus Chelonia.Its range extends throughout tropical and subtropical seas around the world, with two distinct populations in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.The common name comes from the usually green fat found beneath its carapace.
Olive ridley sea turtle are considered endangered as there are not many nesting sites left for them to lay their eggs.
Green Turtles Chelonia mydas are found in tropical and portions of subtropical oceans worldwide in a depth range from 0-200m, max. length 105cm, common 90cm. The species is endangered because there are so many predators, including humans. This specimen is resting at a reef near Bui Island, Indonesia 5°5'40.728 S 131°56'59.058 E at 8m depth
