Side of a main battle tank protected using explosive reactive armour (ERA). Reactive armor is a technology that attempts to protect armored vehicles against anti-tank weapons using a counter-explosion. The reactive armor is placed on top of the passive steel or composite armor in the form of tiles / bricks. It consists of a layer of explosive, which is in turn covered with a metal plate. If a projectile hits the reactive armor, the explosive layer explodes and throws the metal plate towards the projectile. Originally developed by Israel and the Soviet Union.

A close up photo of the road wheels of a Bren Gun Carrier, with torsion springs to keep the track taut and in contact with the road surface.\n\nThe tracks are a full metal construction which while offering great off road traction, has very little grip on concrete and tarmac surfaces so can render the vehicle quite dangerous. The rubber on the inner wheels help to keep the track running smoothly, and offer some cushioning for the crew. \n\nThis image was taken at an outdoor event over the weekend of 11th-13th August 2023, where reenactors, living historians, and members of the public can come to experience what life was like during the second world war, with live demonstrations, battle reenactments, and static displays from all over the world.
