Some of the many derelict and abandoned old fishing boats that litter these shores at Dungeness in Kent. Dungeness is one of the largest expanses of shingle in Europe.

Old, abandoned boat on Brighton beach, United Kingdom
Part of my south east coast series where I explored the slightly run down seaside towns along the Channel coast of England. Many of these towns have no harbour, so for generations, the boats have been hauled up onto the beach, where beach life goes on around them. Some of the boats at Hastings are the biggest I've seen beached in this way.

The construction of wooden fishing boats is a crucial activity in the fishing industry. Workers involved in boat making must possess specialized skills in wood processing and precise assembly to ensure the vessels function effectively and safely at sea. Working alone from dawn till dusk, Pak Asbahari relies solely on his expertise honed over years. Spending seven months crafting this vessel since its inception, he anticipates its completion by the end of 2024.
