Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso: building of the Liptako–Gourma Authority (ALG / LGA) - The Liptako–Gourma Authority (LGA) is a regional organization established in 1970 to promote the development of the Liptako-Gourma region, an area shared by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. This region, rich in mineral and natural resources, has faced challenges related to poverty, underdevelopment, and, more recently, insecurity due to insurgent activity. The LGA aims to foster economic cooperation among the member countries, focusing on sectors like agriculture, mining, water resource management, and infrastructure development. Additionally, it plays a role in addressing cross-border security and stability issues, given the increasing regional threats posed by armed groups and terrorism. Through collaborative efforts, the LGA seeks to enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the region's inhabitants while ensuring sustainable development - area composed entirely of the semi-desert Sahel region

Luanda, Angola: very densely packed neighborhoods, Sambizanga and Cazenga areas, with the Port of Luanda at the top. Since Angola's independence from Portugal in 1975, Luanda, the capital city, has experienced dramatic population growth and transformation. At the time of independence, Luanda's population was approximately half a million, but it surged as people fled rural areas during the Angolan Civil War (1975–2002). This rapid urbanization, driven by internal displacement and migration, led to an expansion of informal settlements and increased strain on infrastructure. Post-war stability and economic growth fuelled further population increases, with Luanda becoming a key economic hub, attracting people from across the country. By the early 2020s, Luanda's population exceeded 8 million, most living in musseques (informal settlements) making it one of Africa's fastest-growing cities, although challenges such as overcrowding, inadequate housing, and infrastructure deficits remain.
