San Pedro Martir, Mexico, Oct 12 - The national park of the Sierra de San Pedro Martir, in the heart of the peninsula of Baja California, Mexico. Refuge of dozens of protected animal species, such as the Bighorn Sheep and the Great Condor of California, reintroduced thanks to a collaboration between the Mexican environmental authorities and the San Diego Zoo Safary Park. The park stretches between a dry part like the San Felipe desert and the large coniferous forests of its high mountains, such as the Picacho del Diablo. In the highest part of the park, in Cerro de la Cupula (2,830 mt) is the National Astronomical Observatory of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
