Medium to tall, rather brittle tufted perennial with orange Latex when injured. The plant is practically hairless. Leaves pale greyish-green, pinnately-lobed with rounded divisions. Flowers small, bright yellow, 1,5-2,5cm, in small umbels of 2-6. Capsule linear, hairless.\nHabitat: Bare and waste Ground, open Woodland, Hedgerows and beneath Walls in moist semi-shaded Habitats, often close to Habitation. The Plant is Cultivated since Medieval Times. \nFlowering Season: April-October.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except Iceland and most of the smaller Islands.\n\nThe Latex is being used for curing Warts and as an Eye ointment. The Herb is also used for Liver Problems. Greater Celandine is however extremely Poisonous.\n\n\nThe Species is quite common in the described Habitats in the Netherlands.
