This column marks the fire of 1666 and was completed in 1677 by Christopher Wren and Robert Hooke. It is 202 feet (62 metres) high, the same distance to Pudding Lane where the fire began.

The colonnade outside the former Royal Exchange at Bank in the City of London. The original Royal Exchange was founded in the 16th century as a commercial centre for the City but the current building is the third, and was opened by Queen Victoria in 1844. It now contains high-end restaurants, eateries and bars as well as luxury shops. The City of London proclamation of the new monarch, King Charles III, took place at the Royal Exchange on 10th September 2022, following long tradition.

All Souls Church is a conservative evangelical Anglican church in central London, situated in Langham Place in Marylebone, at the north end of Regent Street. It was designed in Regency style by John Nash and consecrated in 1824.

London, England – August 22, 2019: the photo shows part of Paternoster Square, next to St Paul's Cathedral, in the heart of London's financial district (known as the City of London). On the right is the building housing the London Stock Exchange. The Corinthian column, made of Portland stone, was designed by the architects Whitfield Partners; it is set on a hexagonal base, and is topped by a flaming copper urn covered in gold leaf. In terms of the column's symbolism, it is generally seen as commemorating both the Great Fire of London (1666) and the period of the Blitz (1940-41), both of which destroyed the area of Paternoster Square, long famous for its booksellers and publishers. Paternoster Square was rebuilt in the 1990s, with the works on its various office buildings and squares completed in 2003.

The Monument to the Great Fire of London of 1666 is situated near the northern end of London Bridge at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Hill in the City of London. Designed by Robert Hooke in collaboration with Christopher Wren, the Monument has a viewing platform at the top, which is reached by 311 steps, its height of 202 feet marking the distance from the site of the baker’s shop of Thomas Farrinor where the fire began.

Commemorating the start of the Great Fire of London in 1666 - the column's height is the exact distance from the bakery where the fire began in Pudding Lane.
