Snow Canyon State Park is an area of red sandstone cliffs, eroded formations, petrified sand dunes, black lava, a little slot canyon, and other wonders just minutes from downtown St. George, Utah. This strange formation looks as if this sandstone wall was scraped flat eons ago, but it would be difficult to explain how that would have happened. More likely would be that a vertical layer of harder sandstone has resisted erosion more than the underlying strata.
