Phacelia Distans is a plant which makes its presence known in the Colorado Desert after sufficient rains, even during winter. Taxonomic value can be gleaned from its small stature, bright green stems, and flowers in shades of purple or blue. The blossoms are attached by a curled stem, resembling the tail of a scorpion. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Wildflowers

Phacelia Crenulata is the botanical nomenclature for a small plant known by the common name Notch Leaved Scorpion Weed. One of several similar species native to the area proximate to the North Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park and like kind adjacent regions. The genus Phacelia contains approximately 200 species indigenous to the Americas.

Notch Leaf Phacelia is one of the common names for botanys Phacelia Crenulata, a captivating wildflower native to the Southwestern United States and parts of Mexico. They can be differentiated taxonomically from Phacelia Distans, another species with many similarities, by the darker colored flowers of P. Crenulata.

(Collomia debilis) Alpine Collomia is an alpine wildflower growing on talus slopes. This plant grows on the ground in clumps call prostrate. It has branched stems with clusters of flowers at the tip of the stem. The flowers can be white, pink or blue. The anthers are only blue. They stems have oval leaves. This plant grows in the Pacific Northwest in both the Cascade and Olympic Mountains.

Phacelia crenulata is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, Boraginaceae. Its common names include crenate phacelia, notch-leaf scorpion-weed, notch-leaved phacelia, cleftleaf wildheliotrope, and heliotrope phacelia and found in Death Valley National Park, California.
