CHURCH OF SANTISSIMA ANNUNZIATA
The small church of the ancient hermitage of Santo Marzio (Saint Martius), among the wooded mountains of Gualdo Tadino, a medieval village between Spoleto and Gubbio in the Italian region of Umbria. This hermitage was built around 1219 by the first Franciscan monks who arrived in these mountains, becoming a place of penance and prayer. According to official sources, this hermitage was visited by St. Francis of Assisi in 1224. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands.
