A beautiful late afternoon scene of Trajan's Forum, part of the Imperial Forums of Rome, in the historic heart of the Eternal City. In the background the baroque church of the Santissimo Nome di Maria al Foro and the Trajan Column, while in the foreground the remains of the majestic colonnade of the Basilica Ulpia, built in honor of the Emperor Trajan's family. The Roman Forum, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the city of Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. Roma, Italy - July 31, 2015: They were the city's second largest Roman public baths, likely built between AD 212, during the reigns of emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla. They were in operation until the 530s and then fell into disuse and ruin.
