The western hognose snake (Heterodon nasicus) is a species of rear fanged venomous snake in the family Colubridae endemic to North America. This picture has been taken in a studio with a captive bred animal.

The Terrestrial Garter Snake (Thamnophis elegans) is a species of snake belonging to the family Colubridae. Also commonly referred to as the Western Terrestrial Garter Snake or the Wandering Garter Snake, it is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia down to northern Mexico. It is a non-venomous snake and is known for its attractive color patterns.  The Terrestrial Garter Snake has a slender body that is between 16 to 42 inches in length, with females usually being larger than males.  They can be found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, meadows, forests, marshes, and suburban areas.  They prefer ample vegetation cover and proximity to water sources like streams, ponds or wetlands.  Their diet mainly consists of small prey items such as earthworms, slugs, insects, amphibians, small fish, and occasionally rodents.
