The remains of the Roman temple of the Portico D'Ottavia in the ancient Jewish Ghetto, in the historic heart of the Eternal City. According to tradition, the fish market was held in this place in ancient Rome. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the Eternal City, located between the Capitoline Hill or Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and the Tiber river. The Roman Walls were constructed between 271 and 275 A.D. during the reign of Emperors Aurelian and Probus. The concrete, brick, and mortar walls were built up to 33 feet high in some places and 11 feet thick with a tower every 97 feet. A gate in the Aurelian walls built in the early 5th century by Emperor Honoius.  The gate remained closed until the early 20th century.  There is a marble relief facing Via Veneto honoring the fallen soldiers in WWI.

The Temple of Venus and Roma is thought to have been the largest temple in Ancient Rome. Located on the Velian Hill, between the eastern edge of the Forum Romanum and the Colosseum, in Rome, it was dedicated to the goddesses Venus Felix and Roma Aeterna (Eternal Rome).\nThe building was the creation of the Emperor Hadrian. Construction began in 121. It was officially inaugurated by Hadrian in 135 AD.
