The richly decorated Gothic “Doorway of Kings” is the entrance to one of the most significant late-Gothic church buildings in Switzerland (built in 1478), with its plain elegant interior. Built between 1518 and 1589 on plans by the architect Giacomo Della Porta, the church was consecrated on 8 October 1589. St. Louis of the French is considered the church of the French in Rome, particularly dedicated to the figure of King St. Louis IX.
