London, England - March 1st, 2014: The Cenotaph is the main war memorial in London. Situated on Whitehall the Cenotaph was build in 1919 to commemorate British and Commonwealth soldiers who lost their lives in the First world War and is now a memorial for soldiers lost in conflicts since World War I.

Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, Central London, laid out in the early 19th century. \n\nIn 1838 a Nelson Memorial Committee approached the government proposing a monument to the victory of Trafalgar. A competition proposed a 218-foot-3-inch Corinthinan column topped by a statue of Nelson and guarded by four sculpted lions.

Cemetery
Jefferson Davis, the former President of the Confederacy, laid the cornerstone for the 88 ft. monument at a ceremony before a crowd of 5,000 people on April 29, 1886. The four granite figures around the base represent the four primary branches of the Confederate armed forces: Infantry Soldier, Cavalry Soldier, Artillery Soldier and the Navy Soldier. The dedication ceremony unveiled the monument on December 7, 1898.
