Val d'Arc (Savoie, France). Climbing to the Col du Mont-Cenis, Dent Parrachée (3,697 m -  12,129 ft) in the clouds, and Dôme de Chasseforêt (3,586 m - 11,765 ft). The Val d'Arc, also known as Maurienne, was one of the six provinces of the Duchy of Savoy (capital city: Turin, Piedmont). After 1861, the entire region of Savoy belonged to France, and Piedmont belonged to Italy. This mountain range is located in the Graian Alps and is included in the Parc National de la Vanoise. The Vanoise National Park, created in 1963, adjoins the Grand Paradise National Park, the oldest national park in Italy, created in 1922. Together they form the largest protected area in the Western Alps.
