A suggestive view of Piazza IV Novembre with the Fontana Maggiore and the Duomo in the historical and artistic heart of Perugia, capital of the Umbria region, in central Italy. The Fontana Maggiore (Mayor Fountain), built in 1275 as a terminal of the medieval aqueduct, is composed of two polygonal marble basins concentric decorated with bas-reliefs sculpted by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano with symbols and scenes of the agrarian tradition and feudal culture, the months of the year with the zodiac signs and the liberal arts, some characters from the Bible and from the history of ancient Rome. In the background, the side façade of the Duomo di San Lorenzo (Cathedral of Saint Lawrence), built in Gothic style starting from 1345 and completed in 1490 and characterized by its splendid pink marbles, and the Loggia di Braccio, built in 1423. Founded by the Etruscans on an ancient Umbrian settlement, Perugia is one of the most loved and visited medieval Italian cities, rich in artistic and architectural treasures that span almost three thousand years of history. People visible outside the entrance of the commercial museum known as Palazzo Pitti at Florence in Tuscany, Italy. It's a primarily Renaissance residence dating from 1458 and began as the home of Luca Pitti, a prolific Florentine banker. The Medicis purchased the palace in 1549 and it became the seat of the dynasties of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Napoleon used the palace as a base in the late 1700s and in 1919 King Victor Emmanuel gave the palace and its contents to the Italian people. Hitler and a Nazi delegation visited Palazzo Pitti and the associated Boboli Gardens for a tour in May 1938 and to attend a concert in October 1940.

A suggestive and idyllic cityscape of Piazza IV Novembre with the Palazzo dei Priori, the Fontana Maggiore and the Duomo di San Lorenzo in the historical and artistic heart of Perugia, capital of the Umbria region, in central Italy. In the center, the majestic Palazzo dei Priori (Priory Palace), considered one of the greatest examples of public palace architecture in Italy.
