Symbolic illustration of infectious viruses under the microscope, for example influenza viruses, smallpox, measles or similar. Medical research and investigation of diseases and healthcare concept.
Yeast cells - 3d rendered image SEM (scanning electron micrograph) view of cells of brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It is used in the production of beer, wine and bread.
Epithelial Cells in urine sediment.
Photomicrograph of potato starch in cells of potato tuber, Solanum tuberosum. Starch is normally white but is stained blue with iodine to show better. Live specimen. Wet mount, 10X objective, transmitted brightfield illumination. Note - very shallow depth of field, chromatic aberration and uneven focus are inherent in light microscopy.
Malt Extract Agar in Petri dish using for growth media to isolate and cultivate yeasts, molds and fungal testing from Neil scraping samples. Neil scraping for fungus culture.

Candida albicans is a species of yeast, a single-celled fungus that reproduces asexually, with daughter cells budding from parent cells. C. albicans is normally harmless and is commonly found on the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, digestive and respiratory tracts and the vagina. Antibiotic treatment or compromised immune function may, however, lead to C. albicans infection. Common candida infections include oral and vaginal thrush. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM), magnified x4900 when printed at 10cm wide.

Fungi biodiversity of Brazilian soil cultivated on culture medium to identify and bioprospect them.
Squash preparation of onion root tip cells stained to reveal chromosomes, Bright field illumination, light microscopy. This image was taken with the X40 objective lens. Depth of focus is extremely low at this magnification. Smaller apertures give greater depth of focus, but image quality deteriorates and resolution is greatly reduced. The aperture in this image was optimised for contrast and resolution. Chromatic abberation is inevitable in light microscopy, but has been kept to a minimum in this image.

Candida krusei is an emerging fungal nosocomial pathogen primarily found in immunocompromised patients. It has natural resistance to fluconazole, a standard antifungal agent. Candida krusei is a multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen.
