The apapane (Himatione sanguinea, is a small, crimson, species of Hawaiian honeycreeper endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. They are the most abundant and widely distributed honeycreeper and are found on the islands of Hawaiʻi, Maui, Lānaʻi, Kauaʻi, Molokaʻi and Oʻahu. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

The Red-winged fairywren occurs in the wetter, southwest corner of Western Australia. It is common in parts of its range, though there is some evidence of decline as a result of draining of swampland. It lives in the understorey of karri and jarrah. Older forests appear to be less favourable habitats, while birds appear to be attracted to disturbed areas after logging.
