Vintage photograph of Officers of Chilean ironclad Blanco Encalada, 1891. Blanco Encalada was an armored frigate built by Earle's Shipbuilding Co. in England for the Chilean Navy in 1875. Blanco Encalada formed part of the congressional forces that brought down President José Manuel Balmaceda in the Chilean Civil War of 1891. She was sunk during that conflict on 23 April 1891, becoming the first warship to be sunk by a self-propelled torpedo.

Cayenne, French Guiana: 58 mm mortar, commonly known as the Crapouillot (little frog) from its shape, was the standard French medium trench mortar of World War I - designed by Commandant Duchêne with trench warfare in mind, about 3,300 were manufactured at Saint-Etienne between 1915 and the end of the conflict - used as decoration in Rooster Square (Place du Coq).
