Old Rock Jail in Rockford Alabama
Paramaribo, Suriname: Fort Zeelandia - built in the early 17th century, when Dutch settlers founded a trading settlement near the indigenous village of Parmurbo, later Paramaribo. The English captured the fort in 1651 and named it Fort Willoughby, after Francis Willoughby. In March 1667, the Zeelanders under Abraham Crijnssen conquered the fort and the settlement. After Suriname's independence (1975) it was used to hold and torture political prisoners - Abraham Crijnssenweg, Historic Inner City of Paramaribo, Unesco World Heritage Site.

Politician P. Ludwell III built this house in 1753. Virginia's first female printer, Clemintina Rind, lived and published a newspaper here from 1766 to 1774. Colonial Williamsburg is a historic area, which includes several buildings from the 18th century that had been restored. Costumed employees work and dress as people did from that era. It was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1960. Photos were taken on iPhone 11 Pro on 10/31/20.

These walls, peppered with archways and shadowed by the sprawling branches of trees, have witnessed history unfold since their construction in the 1800s. The fort is a crucial piece of American Civil War history, having played a significant role in the Battle of Mobile Bay.
