For Remembrance Day, the Monument and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa commemorating the First World War.
Groesbeek, Netherlands – oktober 30, 2022\n\nCanadian War Cemetery Groesbeek is the cemetery where 2619 mainly Canadian soldiers are buried who fell in the Second World War. The soldiers buried here have not all died in fighting in the Netherlands, but also in Germany. The Allies did not want their soldiers buried in a hostile country.\n\nThe war cemetery is located north of Groesbeek in the Dutch municipality of Berg en Dal and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

The Saskatchewan War Memorial is located west of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. The first memorial, dedicated in 1995 by the Honourable J.E.N. Wiebe, Lt. Governor of Saskatchewan, honours those who gave their lives in World War I. A First World War Canadian Soldier was created in 1926 by the 28th Battalion and remembers the fallen of World War I. The statue of a military Nursing Sister was erected in 2007, and honours those who tirelessly cared for the injured. The second memorial (pictured here along with the statues), dedicated in 2005 by the Honourable Dr. Lynda Haverstock, Lt. Governor of Saskatchewan, honours those who gave their lives in World War II, the Korean War, and in Canada’s peacetime operations. The first sod for the second memorial was turned in early 2005 by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh during a visit to Saskatchewan with her Majesty the Queen for the Centennial of the Province of Saskatchewan.
