The peacock flounder (Bothus mancus), also known as the flowery flounder, is a species of fish in the family Bothidae (lefteye flounders). The species is found widely in relatively shallow waters in the Indo-Pacific, also ranging into warmer parts of the east Pacific. Maui Island,

Helmut Gurnard or Oriental Flying Gurnard Dactyloptena orientalis occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Hawaiian, Marquesan and Tuamoto Islands, north to southern Japan and the Ogasawara Islands, south to Australia and northern New Zealand in a depth range from 1 to 100m, max. length 40cm, common length 20cm. \n\nThe Flying Gurnard uses its pelvic fins to walk along the bottom of the ocean. \nThe solitary, well-camouflaged and slow-moving species inhabits coastal waters with sandy substrates and feeds on crustaceans, clams and small fish. \n\nThe pectoral fins are normally held against the body, but when threatened the fins are expanded to startle potential predators which may include sea breams and mackerel. A diver with huge camera system looks like a potential predator, reason enough to go on defense. \n\nLembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°28'8.9165 N 125°14'39.1048 E at 20m depth

Carpet Sole Liachirus melanospilos occurs in the tropical Indo-West Pacific from the Laccadives (Kerala, India) to Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Taiwan and Japan in a depth range from 3 to 20m, max. standard length 15cm. \nThe spieces inhabits coastal sand slopes and estuaries. \n\nResearch has changed fundamentally in the last few decades. The mitogenome sequence from this species has been completely decoded. \nThis could contribute to a better understanding of the systematic evolution of Soleidae and Pleuronectiformes. \n\nThis specimen was encountered in the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°29'32.881 N 125°14'12.8996 E at 15m depth by night

This ray can reach a diameter of up to 1,5m. The almost circular body is covered with dark spots, which can fade with age or dissolve completely. The whip-shaped tail is almost twice as long as the actual body and, from the clearly visible sting, much darker than the rest of the fish.

A Kai sole, Aseraggodes kaianus, blends into the sandy seafloor in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia. These interesting fish are hard to spot due to their camouflage patterning.
Tasselled Wobbegong Eucrossorhinus dasypogon occurs in Eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia. This ovoviviparous species can reach more than 3.5m length, common length is less than 2m. The tough skin is used sometimes for leather. \nTasselled Wobbegong is threatened by extensive coral reef habitat destruction (pollution and dynamite fishing), as well as expanding fisheries. A considerable section of its habitat is protected in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.\nThis specimen lies in a little cave in an outer reef at 14m depth. This shark species is primarily nocturnal. Its morning, time to have a rest. \nA lot of Orangelined Cardinalfishes Taeniamia fucata are there. The species occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean from the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea to the east coast of Africa, eastward to the Marshall Islands, Samoa and Tonga; north to Ryukyu Islands; south to northern Australia in adepth range from 2-66m, max. length 10cm, commonly 6cm. \nSome Twinspot Chromis Chromis elerae are there too, swimming upside down at the ceiling of the cave. \nBatu Dramai, Triton Bay, Indonesia, , 4°2'37.914 S 134°14'12.564 E at 14m depth
