The Keep (fortified tower) at Corfe Castle was built in the early 12th century for King Henry I, William the Conqueror's son. Standing 21 metres tall, and positioned atop a 55-metre-high hill, this gleaming tower of Purbeck limestone could be seen from miles around. Corfe castle was established by William the Conqueror and partially destroyed in the English Civil War. Now a majestic ruin. May 15, 2023.

St Botolph’s Priory in Colchester, Essex, Eastern England, was founded around 1093 and housed Augustinian canons until its dissolution in 1536. It was constructed using flint and reused Roman bricks which were locally readily available thanks to the town’s earlier occupation as a Roman settlement. The Priory was built in typical Norman style with thick circular pillars, round arches and a highly decorative West Front, of which this image shows part. The Priory was badly damaged in 1648 during the siege of Colchester in the Civil War.

August 28, Madrid, Spain: San Bernardo Street (or Calle Ancha de San Bernardo and Carrera de San Bernardo) is a public thoroughfare in Madrid that runs from Plaza de Santo Domingo to Glorieta de Quevedo, spanning the Centro and Chamberí districts. It serves as the boundary between the Universidad and Palacio neighborhoods and the section between Glorieta de Ruiz Jiménez and Glorieta de Quevedo. The street was named after Bernard of Clairvaux, a French saint from the 11th century and reformer of the Cistercian order. During the 19th century, the final stretch of the street, between the plazas above of Ruiz Jiménez and Quevedo, was known as Calle de las Navas de Tolosa.
