Often overshadowed by Yellowstone National Park, its larger neighbor to the north, Jackson Hole and the Snake River Valley is a land of vast scenic beauty. What it lacks in geysers and hot springs, it more than makes up for in the rugged Teton Mountain Range. The Teton's many canyons lead to alpine meadows, cirques and towering peaks. It was this rugged range that became Wyoming's second national park in 1929. In 1950 the park boundaries were expanded to include much of the Snake River Valley. Wyoming, USA: Togwotee Pass, situated on the Continental Divide in the Absaroka Mountains of northwestern Wyoming, is a high mountain pass with an elevation of 9,658 feet (2,944 meters).
