A static display of items which would've been an everyday sight in Britain during the second world war. A whistle used by an air raid warden to warn of impending air raid, while the rattles were for potential Gas Attack (used as a gas mask would've been worn, preventing the use of a whistle). A STEN submachine gun which would have been issued to members of the home guard, and of course the daily newspaper which reports on news from the front lines. \n\nThis image was taken at an outdoor event over a weekend of July 2023, where reenactors, living historians, and members of the public can come to experience what life was like during the second world war, with live demonstrations, battle reenactments, and static displays from all over the world.
