A suggestive perspective of the rear side of the Tempietto in the courtyard of the church of San Pietro in Montorio, located on the Janiculum hill in the historic district of Trastevere, in the heart of Rome. Built in 1510 by the architect Donato Bramante, the Tempietto (Small Temple) is considered a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, with the search for a perfect balance of shapes and volumes. The circular plan and the relationship between the dome and the colonnade recalls the classical values of Roman architecture, such as the famous Temple of Vesta located in the Roman Forum. According to tradition, the Tempietto was built to celebrate the martyrdom of St. Peter, which supposedly took place on the Janiculum. Trastevere is an iconic district of the Eternal City, due to the presence of countless artistic and historical treasures, monuments and ancient Romanesque and Baroque churches, but also for its squares and alleys to be explored freely, where it is easy to find typical restaurants, pubs, small shops of artisans and scenes of daily life with the original Roman soul. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image.

Rome, Italy: The church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus (1584), known primarily as the Chiesa del Gesù or more simply as Il Gesù , is the mother church of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits' headquarters. The construction of the church, which overlooks Piazza del Gesù , is considered an important turning point in the history of art , because it was built according to the spirit of the decrees of the Council of Trent: it was designed with a single nave, because the attention of the faithful was concentrated on the altar. The Church of the Gesù was the model for various buildings of worship erected by the Society of Jesus around the world, such as the Church of the Gesu at the Ateneo de Manila - architects Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola, Giacomo Della Porta and Michelangelo Buonarroti
Rome, Italy, November 11 -- A view of the Piazza della Repubblica (Republic Square), in the historic heart of Rome, with the Fontana delle Naiadi (Fountain of the Naiads) in the center, and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, built among the archaeological remains of the ancient Baths of Diocletian, in the background. The Fountain of the Naiads was built in 1870 during the pontificate of Pope Pius IX, a few days before the conquest of Rome by the troops of the Kingdom of Italy and the end of the temporal power of the papacy, by the artists Mario Rutelli e Alessandro Guerrieri. Piazza della Repubblica is located on the edge of the Rione Monti and the central Via Nazionale. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
