The 1903 bronze sculpture was designed by Daniel Chester French and Edward Clark Potter, and rests on a granite base. Joseph Hooker was an American Civil War general for the Union, chiefly remembered for his decisive defeat by Confederate General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. The Massachusetts State House is the state capitol and seat of government for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston.

Boston, Massachusetts, USA - February 15, 2023: Colonel William H. Prescott statue in front of the Bunker Hill Monument, a monument erected at the site of the Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston, which was among the first major battles between the Red Coats and Patriots in the American Revolutionary War. According to popular stories, Prescott coined the famous Revolutionary War phrase, Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes during the battle. The monument is not actually on Bunker Hill, but instead on Breed's Hill, where most of the fighting in the misnamed Battle of Bunker Hill actually took place. The granite obelisk was erected between 1825 and 1843 in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
The Victoria Memorial is a large marble monument dedicated to Queen Victoria, the Empress of India facing the Queens Way on the Maidan in Central Kolkata. It was built between 1906 and 1921 by the British Raj. It is the largest monument to a monarch anywhere in the world.
