Northern Arizona Landscape

They usually have steep, sloping sides and sharp or rounded ridges, and a high point, called a peak or summit. Most geologists classify a mountain as a landform that rises at least 1,000 feet (300 meters) or more above its surrounding area.
The Hermit Trail is said to be built in the late 1800's by horsetheives. Prospectors of that era improved the trail. The railroad improved the trail further around 1910 to compete with the Camerons' Bright Angel Trail which charged a toll at the time. The Hermit Trail drops from the South Rim in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, USA.
