In 1859  a Carrara marble statue representing the Empress Josephine de Beauharnais, wife of  the French Emperor Napoleon 1, was  installed at La Savane Park in Fort de  France. In 1991, the statue was beheaded by a group of people and red paint was splattered on it as a reminder of her role in reinstating slavery.

The Memorial to Robert Gould Shaw by Augustus Saint-Gaudens opposite the State Capitol Building on Boston Common). Robert Gould Shaw is seen leading members of the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry 1863. The sculpture was unveiled on May 31, 1897. the first civic monument to pay homage to the heroism of African American soldiers.

Grand-Bassam, Aboisso department, Sud-Comoé region, Comoé district, Ivory Coast / Côte d'Ivoire: Monument to the Dead, pays homage to the victims of the yellow fever epidemic which killed 2/3 of the colonists in Grand-Bassam in 1899. Sculpted by Alfred Lenoir, was inaugurated in 1914, it is surmounted by Marianne carrying a bouquet of flowers in her arms. The epidemic lasted until 1903, it explains why Grand-Bassam lost its status as capital to Bingerville in 1900. The genocide took place after The Young Turk Revolution involving the years 1914-1923 which impacted the Christian minority Pontic Greeks in Anatolia. The Young Turks wanted to 'Turkify' the Ottoman Empire and so a genocidal campaign took place against non-Turkish minorities. Between 1914-1923, about 353,000 Pontic Greeks were killed and 1.5 million were expelled.

The bronze figure group in the tympanum was inserted in 1894, designed by Mathias Skeibrok -  'Det juridiske fakultet', ' Universitetet i Oslo'.
