Beauty Pool, located in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, is a striking geothermal feature renowned for its vibrant hues and intricate formations. The pool, which measures about 16 feet in diameter, showcases a brilliant spectrum of colors ranging from deep turquoise in the center to vivid yellow and orange near the edges. These colors are a result of thermophilic microorganisms that thrive in the hot, mineral-rich waters.
In 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic features. Within Yellowstone National Park visitors have opportunities to observe wildlife in an intact ecosystem, explore geothermal areas that contain about half the world’s active geysers, and view geologic wonders.
