He died during another Crusade in 1270. In 1297, to honor the king's efforts as a Crusader, the Roman Catholic Church made Louis IX a saint. He is the only French king to have been made a saint.

The Basilica of Saint-Denisis a large former medieval abbey church and present cathedral in the commune of Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris. The church was completed in 1144 and widely considered the first structure to employ all of the elements of Gothic architecture. The image shows a tomb inside the cathedral.
