The farmers start early in the morning at 2 o'clock and bring the cows to the alp, over the whole summer. In the background you can see the typical houses of Appenzell.

$Almabtrieb: Cows with flowers crowns: PUBLIC parade in Tux countryside Hintertux streets – Cattle drive in Zillertal alps, Tirol – Austria\n\nTux covers the higher and largest part of the Tuxertal, a side valley of the Zillertal that branches off at Mayrhofen. \nTux consists of the five villages of Vorderlanersbach, Lanersbach, Juns, Madseit, and Hintertux.\nThe Almabtrieb (in German language literally: drive from the mountain pasture) is an annual PUBLIC event in the alpine regions in Europe, referring to a cattle drive that takes place in late September or early October.\nDuring summer, all over the alpine regions cattle herds feed on alpine pastures (Almen in Austria or Germany, Alpen in Switzerland) high up in the mountains, a practice known as transhumance. In numbers, these amount to about 500,000 in Austria, 380,000 in Switzerland, and 50,000 in Germany.$
