In Vietnam, the Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis) is the main species farmed for meat and leather. Once native to rivers and wetlands, it is now critically endangered in the wild, so most crocodile products come from licensed farms. Occasionally, saltwater crocodiles (C. porosus) are also raised, but Siamese crocodiles remain the most common for sale in markets and shops.
