Muslim pilgrims come to this place to pray for the people who lost their lives during the Battle of Uhud which occurred in 625 between a force from the Muslim community of Medina led by the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and a force led by Abu Sufyan who was a staunch opponent of the Islamic prophet Muhammad before accepting Islam later in his life.
