Native to Central Texas, a cactus botanically classified as Opuntia Engelmannii [George Engelmann, German botanist circa 1800] Variety Linguiformis has been widely cultivated, and can be witnessed here, in the town of Joshua Tree. Also known as Cows Tongue, these often pair with modern development in replacement of indigenous ecology. Perhaps, if we all work together, we can implement ways to live in respectful compromise with original inhabitants, instead of annihilating them.
