Splendid Fairywren - Malurus splendens passerine bird in Maluridae, blue wren found in Australia in arid and semi-arid regions, sexual dimorphism, male is small long-tailed bird of bright blue.
Bird of South Africa
The Red-winged fairywren occurs in the wetter, southwest corner of Western Australia. It is common in parts of its range, though there is some evidence of decline as a result of draining of swampland. It lives in the understorey of karri and jarrah. Older forests appear to be less favourable habitats, while birds appear to be attracted to disturbed areas after logging.
