$Brauns Pughead Pipefish Bulbonaricus brauni occurs in the tropical Eastern Indian Ocean off Sumatra, Indonesia and from Western Australia and in the Western Central Pacific in Palau and Japan solitary or in pairs in a depth range from 1 to 10m, max. standard length 5.5cm. The habitat is dendrophyllid corals, in this case Galaxea astreata. \nAdults lack dorsal and pectoral fins, they easily move around within large plate corals or between the polyps of Galaxea corallites. \nAfter fecundation, the eggs of amber yellow or orange colour, the male carries them in a brood pouch which is found under the tail.
