Normandy, France, September 02, 2019: Looking at a 150mm canon of the Longues-sur-Mer artillery battery wich was constructed during the World War II by germans army near the french village of Longues-sur-Mer. The battery was sited on a 60 m (200 ft) cliff overlooking the north sea and formed a part of Germany's Atlantic Wall coastal fortifications. But it couldn´t prevent the Allied landing beaches of Gold and Omaha and shelled both beaches on D-Day (6 June 1944).

Fort Gorazda (Tvrđava Goražda) at 452 meters altitude on Goražda Hill overlooking Kotor Bay, is a historic Austro-Hungarian fortification built between 1884-1886 to replace an earlier structure destroyed during the 1869 uprising. Located in Lovćen National Park, it features a distinctive symmetrical three-tiered design with two perpendicular wings constructed from reinforced concrete walls, and notably houses the last surviving 100-ton Gruson rotating turret on its roof, a unique piece of military engineering. Strategically positioned to control the vital Kotor-Cetinje road, the fort served multiple defensive purposes including neutralizing enemy artillery on nearby Krstac mountain and protecting Tivat port during World War I, when Austro-Hungarian forces engaged in artillery duels with Montenegrin batteries positioned on Mount Lovćen. Despite withstanding heavy bombardment from shells up to 24cm in caliber, the fort's robust construction ensured its survival, and it continued serving as a Yugoslav military storage facility until the '90s. It today stands as an abandoned, unprotected ruin accessible free of charge to visitors.

This Cold War-era bunker is tucked away in a quiet forest. Denmark has many such bunkers, though most are poorly maintained and some have even been forgotten over time. The photo was taken on the southern tip of Amager, within a large nature reserve located about 30 minutes from downtown Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.

Mosede Batteri Fort was a part of the Tune position to protect Copenhagen from an advancing enemy from the south. The fort was established during WW I. It was in service from 1916 until 1947 as a coastal fort.
