The design features the shield of the Provincial Arms—displaying the English heraldic lion on a chief gules, and below, three oak saplings representing the island's three counties under the protection of a large mature oak tree (Great Britain). The shield is surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown, symbolizing the Lieutenant Governor's role as the representative of the Monarch in the province.
