The cathedral of Santa Maria de Girona is located at the highest point of the city; it has the widest Gothic nave in the world, with a total width of 22.98 metres. Its construction began in the 11th century in Romanesque style, followed by Gothic in the 13th century, preserving only the Romanesque cloister from the 12th century and the tower from the same period dating from 1040; it was completed in the 18th century. It is an Asset of Cultural Interest.

Until then, the niches and the bases on which the figures of the apostles were to be placed had been made. \nThe corbels on which the apostles rested are decorated with historical and vegetal motifs. The differences in their workmanship suggest the work of at least six stonemasons. On the outside of the left-hand side we see a man and a woman holding prayer books. Next to them is a warrior in chain-mail and helmet and a musician angel. On the next corbel we see vegetal motifs. Next, Moses is depicted with the tablets of the Law, accompanied by Aaron. Again we find plant motifs in the corbel next to him. In the last one we see the apostles James the Greater and Saint Bartholomew with books and their attributes in their hands.$
